IRD - Research Institute for Development - BSTD – PhD Grants Programme

PhD scholarships are offered through the Department for Capacity Building Support to scientific communities in the South (DSF) to support students from developing countries with thesis work within the framework of a partnership between research teams from the North and South. The ultimate goal is to help qualified young researchers to become established members of the scientific community in their home country, which would strengthen the research capacities of developing countries. The scholarship is for a maximum of 36 months (not renewable) and includes a monthly lump sum at the rate set by the host country, social security coverage and a return ticket, for thesis topics, alternating between the home country and abroad, with stays of at least 60 continuous days. Grants are not limited to any specific scientific areas other than the areas in which IRD is scientifically active.
