Twenty years into the life of the Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria, (AESON), the Society will use the 2014 Conference to examine, identify and recommend implementable strategies for addressing the challenges facing agricultural extension practice in Nigeria.

African Studies PhD Scholarship (Arabic Sources for West African History, West African Manuscripts in the British Library)
The Department of African Studies and Anthropology at the University of Birmingham (incorporating the Centre of West African Studies) and the British Library are pleased to announce a three-year studentship for students commencing their MPhil/PhD in African Studies in September 2014. The studentship is attached to an AHRC funded Collaborative Doctoral Partnership awarded to the British Library for research and cataloguing related to its collection of West African Arabic manuscripts and its forthcoming exhibition: ‘West Africa: Cultures of the Word’. The successful applicant will receive (at UK/EU rate) full tuition fees and maintenance funding (which was £13,726 for 2013/14, increasing annually), plus associated expenses (£550 yearly maintenance payment from AHRC; up to £1,000 per annum from the British Library to cover travel and related costs).

The Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School of Literary Studies offers doctoral & postdoctoral scholarships in 2014. Total 12 scholarships are offered, 10 doctoral scholarships for the duration of 3 years maximum and 2 post-doctoral scholarships for the duration of 2 years maximum. Applicants must hold a completed degree (M.A. or equivalent) with above-average grades in the humanities, preferably literary studies
The University of Edinburgh is offering a number of postgraduate scholarships. Scholarships are open to PhD and MSc by Research students in the History of Art department. Scholarship covers usually with a minimum value of £5,000 and a maximum value of £15,000. The application deadline is 11 April 2014.
So as to support capacity development in Irish Aid programme countries in Africa, each year Irish Aid funds a small number of students to undertake post-graduate study.
Visiting Research Fellowships 2014-15
The Centre of African Studies invites applications for two Visiting Research Fellowships from candidates in all the disciplines in the humanities and social sciences. The aim of the Fellowships is to enable the fellows to focus on a period of research and writing in Cambridge.

The Department of Statistics of University of Warwick offers PhD bursaries for UK/EU or overseas students in the UK. The bursary will cover Home/EU or overseas academic fees as appropriate, plus a maintenance allowance of £13,726. Two bursaries are offered for three years (bursary will be renewed at the end of the first year for up to a further two years). Funds might also be made available from this source for successful PhD applicants who have only partial support from elsewhere.
